Traditional application of small wind turbines can be easily divided into on-grid and off-grid system. Further, the batteries can influence the environment to some degree, and long periods of windless days will cause a shortage of electrical capacity unless supplemented with solar.
Recently a new type of application has gained popularity, where the electricity is not stored in the batteries; rather the electricity is directly sent to and used in loads (e.g. heating, oxygen generation, seawater desalination) through manipulating the controller’s output. Thus the electricity is used fully while avoid the cost of batteries and batteries maintenance cost, without the need to comply with requirements of grid and applicable laws.
